When we find things to do in San Francisco that support the San Francisco Public Library’s education programs and help them promote literacy for children, teens and adults it reminds us why we love living here! If you have yet to go, this annual festival is a prominent celebration of Asian traditions and it is right here in our own back yard. One weekend is not enough to contain all the performances, crafts, food, martial arts and exhibitions – so there are TWO! The parade on Sunday, April 20th starts at the Civic Center at 1pm and continues to Japantown, where it ends at 3pm. Visit the website for more information.

Have you been? Art lovers will enjoy the Spring Open Studios at Hunters Point. This is known as “one of America’s most art-centric neighborhoods.” It is an annual glimpse into the working studios of many of the areas fine artists. And yes, as far as things to do in San Francisco, with this event you get Window-shopping and Shopping-shopping. Both are encouraged!
MAY – Things To Do in San Francisco
Plant-lovers be advised – this is YOUR weekend! Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd 2015. And if things to do in San Francisco include making your garden the talk of the block, come find the just the right plant from over 2500 different choices. From the exotic and rare to the humble stunner! “This sale has it all – succulents, ferns, orchids, natives, alpines, rhododendrons, perennials, houseplants, shrubs and trees! Plus, a special silent auction to include rare and exotic plants.” You would have a tough, if not impossible time finding many of these plants via area plant sales or nurseries. Proceeds support San Francisco Botanical Garden volunteers, nursery, curatorial and education staff.
